Just for a little bit

I leave the world, for a little bit
under unceasing stress, I feel trussed
and I curl inside me, just a bit

I lay under gentle night, starlit
as undone work taunts, coated with dust
I leave the world, for a little bit

I dream of a garden where birds flit
trilling heavenly songs of love, trust
and I curl inside me, just a bit

more, ears straining to capture the lilt
I dissolve in the melody’s thrust
I leave the world, for a little bit

and so I lay on dark nights starlit
I let go of this world’s grime and dust
and I curl inside me, just a bit

I soothe the fractures in my spirit
I learn once again to live, to trust
I leave the world, for a little bit
and I curl inside me, just a bit
